Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has lost his daughter Exodus to a freak treadmill accident at her Phoenix home. The four year old had accidentally caught her neck in a treadmill cord yesterday (Monday 25 May 2009)
She was discovered by her brother Miguel, 7 who raised the alarm. Her mother performed CPR at the scene to revive her daughter.
Police said Exodus either slipped or put her head in the loop of a cord hanging under the console and suffocated
She was rushed to hospital and put on life support with Tyson, who was in Las Vegas at the time rushing back to be at his daughter’s bedside.
The family released a statement which said: “There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus, We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal.”
Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight boing champion at the age of 20 when he lifted the World Boxing Council version of the title. He earned an estimated $300 million in career earnings but filed for Chapter 11 protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 2003. He retired in 2005
