Diversity win Britain’s Got Talent

diversityEssex street dancers Diversity have won the finals of Britain’s Got Talent. During the finals in which ten acts performed live, the group won more public votes than any other act and beat bookies favourite, Susan Boyle into second place. Saxophonist Julian Smith came third.

Boyle who had been the bookies favorite going into the finals admitted that Diversity deserved the win. She said: “The best people won. They’re very entertaining. Lads, I wish you all the best.”
Boyle in a blue dress performed “I Dreamed a Dream”, the song she performed during her audition and which gained her instant fame with a reported 100 million views on Youtube and interviews with Oprah and Larry King.

“You’ve had a weird seven weeks and you’d have had every right to walk away,” said Simon Cowell, one of the competition judges “You have the guts to come back here tonight, face your critics and you beat them,” he said. He was of course referring to reports that Boyle had a well-publicized tantrum during which she allegedly swore at her hotel in front of shocked guests and was reportedly considering pulling out of the competition on account of nerves.

Diversity, a group consisting of three sets of brothers ranging in age from 12 to 25 put in another breathtaking performance with references to pop culture from the film “Transformers”, “Superman” and a cheeky skit which made reference to the judges buzzers drew high praise from Judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden. The third judge Piers Morgan wasn’t too impressed though and prefered Flawless’ performance.

It didn’t matter in the end as Diversity won first place with a £100,000 cheque and a chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.
